Jakub Dolejs

Jakub Dolejs – Jakub received his MFA in Design & Architecture in 1998 and by 2007 had work purchased by the National Gallery of Canada. His work, both historical & contemporary in reference, combines photography & painting to question our perceived reality of both. Actors, in staged settings, are in front of simply painted three-dimensional backdrops, and then photographed. The final photograph is a seamlessly fused singular image leaving us to wonder where one begins and where the other ends, which one represents the better reality, and to wonder what is real in our perceptions.
